Rastro de Argual
The Rastro de Argual is set up on the Plaza de Sotomayor, in the historic hamlet of Argual between Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte. It is a craft and second-hand market ringed by banana plantations and by manor houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The stalls hold ceramics, basketry, jewellery, wood carvings, ornamental and fruit plants, and the Arte Fuego glassblowing workshop.

The Rastro de Argual takes over the Plaza de Sotomayor, in the hamlet of Argual, a historic spot in Los Llanos de Aridane on the way to Tazacorte. The setting is half the appeal: banana plantations all around, Canary palms, the chapel of San Pedro and a group of manor houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, built on the back of La Palma's old sugar economy. Some of those houses hold art exhibitions and are open to visitors.
The stalls mix La Palma craftwork, with ceramics, basketry, jewellery, wood carvings and one-off handmade pieces, alongside ornamental, fruit and aromatic plants, second-hand clothes and objects, and natural products from the land and the sea. The Arte Fuego glassblowing workshop lets you watch a piece being shaped before you buy it. There is live music and an unhurried mood, closer to a stroll than to a shopping run. It is signposted from the LP-2 road towards Tazacorte, and there is parking close by.
