Mirador de Tajuya
Viewpoint at El Paso over the 2021 Tajogaite lava flow, with the new cone and the Aridane valley in sight, on La Palma.
Mirador de Tajuya sits on a bend in the road beside the church and community centre of Tajuya, in the municipality of El Paso on La Palma. From here the volcanic cone formed in 2021 is in full view, together with the track of the lava flow and the lava delta that reached the sea. In September of that year this was one of the main observation points of the eruption, used by media crews and research teams to follow the advance of the flow.
Access is directly from the LP-212 road. Parking is spread between the roadside and the area around the church, and it gets tight whenever the site is busy. On a clear day the whole Aridane valley is visible; during calima episodes visibility drops considerably.
