Mirador de Las Hoyas
The Mirador de Las Hoyas looks out over the coast of Tazacorte, on the island of La Palma, beside the LP-213 road running down towards La Bombilla. From the terrace the eye takes in the Aridane valley, the banana plantations that reach the sea and, on clear days, the outline of El Hierro on the horizon. A designated parking area lies next to the viewpoint.
The Mirador de Las Hoyas stands on the LP-213 road, on the stretch that links Tazacorte with La Bombilla. From this point the Aridane valley opens up, together with the banana plantations that run down to the sea and the outline of El Hierro in the distance on clear days. The terrace sums up the twofold character of the municipality, between the green of the crops and the expanse of the ocean.
Since the volcanic eruption the viewpoint has also become a place from which to follow the new landscape shaped by the lava flows and the way the farmed land now sits alongside the traces of the volcano. Late in the day the light turns the coast golden and orange. There is a designated parking area, and the balcony works as a stop on the coastal route towards La Bombilla or the lighthouse.
