Faro de Fuencaliente
Two lighthouses side by side at the southern tip of La Palma, in Fuencaliente, beside working salt pans and an open volcanic landscape.
The Faro de Fuencaliente stands at the southernmost point of La Palma, in the municipality of Fuencaliente. Two towers share the site: the original stone lighthouse of twenty four metres, built in 1903, and next to it the taller modern tower with red and white bands. Around them lies an open volcanic landscape, with the sea beyond and the salt pans spreading out beside the buildings.
The salinas still produce sea salt and a walking route runs around the basins, so the visit pairs well with a short stroll. The site is reached on a paved road and there is parking right by the lighthouses. It also appears on the official stargazing location list published by visitlapalma.es, the island council portal. The volcanic landscape shows its strongest contrast late in the day, when there are fewer visitors than around midday.
