Mirador de Las Breñas

sellViewpointsstorefrontIslas24sunny25°C

On the northern edge of the La Primavera estate, Mirador de Las Breñas opens one of the widest panoramas in northern Tenerife: the island's peaks on one side, the Atlantic straight ahead. The platform covers 266.73 square metres on two levels, with planted terraces of endemic species. The Sendero de Las Breñas starts here, six kilometres down the cliff of the Costa de Acentejo protected landscape.

The lookout leans out over the drop at the northern edge of the La Primavera estate in El Sauzal, and it claims one of the finest sea views on Tenerife. It is a clean platform of 266.73 square metres laid out on two levels, with the main body and several planted terraces where endemic species of the area grow. From the railing your eye splits between the island's peaks and the wide blue of the Atlantic. The viewpoint opened on 20 January 2012, and in September 2014 a sculpture was placed on its surface honouring the fishermen of El Puertito who took part in rescuing the survivors of the air accident of 16 September 1966 off this stretch of coast.

The Sendero de Las Breñas begins right here: a circular route of about six kilometres and two hours that drops down the cliff of the Costa de Acentejo protected landscape to the shore at Punta de El Puertito, Playa de El Cangrejillo and the rock pools of Rojas. This is cliff terrain with protected flora, including Lotus maculatus, the pico de El Sauzal, found only on Tenerife. You reach the viewpoint by car on the TF-1224 road up to Calle Castaño; it has no car park of its own, so people leave the car in the surrounding streets.
