"El Viento es salvaje" by Las Niñas de Cádizverified
Two friends, so close they are sisters, with a single shadow over their friendship. Las Niñas de Cádiz strip Phaedra and Medea of their peplos and bring them into the present day, against the backdrop of Cádiz, a city of almost Macondo-like character where the levante wind foretells tragedy. El viento es salvaje (The Wind Is Wild) is a tragedy shot through with laughter.
Two friends. So close they are sisters. Only one shadow over their friendship: while one grew up confident, pampered by life and smiling, the other felt wretched. Las Niñas de Cádiz strip Phaedra and Medea of their peplos and bring them into the present day as apparently grey figures; only when conflict arises do they suddenly take on an ancient fate and sweep away everything in their path.
In the background is Cádiz, a city of almost Macondo-like character where everyday life foretells tragedy: the levante wind, the knife-grinder’s flute, the circus on the outskirts, the chorus of neighbours. El viento es salvaje (The Wind Is Wild) is a tragedy shot through with laughter from start to finish. The cast is Teresa Quintero, Ana López Segovia, who also wrote and directed it, Rocío Segovia and Alejandra López. Recommended from age 13; about 75 minutes. Tickets from €9. The performance takes place at Teatro El Sauzal on Tuesday 8 December 2026, at 20:00.
