Tenerife

The largest of the Canary Islands packs a whole day of contrasts into very little space. In barely 80 kilometres you go from the Teide, the highest peak in Spain (3,715 m), to the misty laurel forests of Anaga; from the colonial towns of La Laguna to the banana groves of the Orotava valley. This is the island of the thousand-year-old drago tree in Icod and of the guachinches, where you eat real Canarian home cooking. It has two faces worth knowing: the green, cloudy north and the sunny, beachy south. You can't see it all at once here, you have to choose. We make it easy: beaches, viewpoints, guachinches and places to see, sorted so you find what's near you.
