2nd Disability Conference: Transforming the Community, Adejeverified
Adeje Town Council holds its 2nd Disability Conference at the Auditorio de Adeje under the theme Transforming the Community: a day of talks and round tables on sensory integration, the right to communicate, movement, autism and late diagnosis. Paralympic swimmer Teresa Perales gives the closing talk. Registration is required, and the ticket proceeds go to the Fundación Canaria ALAS.
The 2nd Disability Conference, organised by Adeje Town Council at the Auditorio de Adeje, starts from one idea: inclusion does not depend only on people with disabilities, but also on how the community organises itself and acts. During the day, occupational therapist Dafne Santana Alemán speaks on sensory regulation, teacher Sol Solís on the right to communicate and augmentative and alternative communication systems, psychomotor therapist Esteban Levin on body and movement, speech therapist Aída Méndez García on girls, women and autism, and Sara Codina, founder of the Mujer y Autista community, on late diagnosis, with two round tables as well.
The closing talk, Querer es poder, is given by Teresa Perales, a swimmer with 28 Paralympic medals and winner of the 2021 Princess of Asturias Award for Sports. The music school of Adeje opens the day. The conference is on Tuesday 1 December 2026: registration opens at 08:30 and the programme ends at 18:30, with a lunch break. Places are booked through the Town Council website, and the ticket proceeds go to the Fundación Canaria ALAS.
