Mirador de la Cumbrecita sits in the municipality of El Paso, within the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, at about 1,287 metres. A narrow valley ends abruptly, leaving visitors poised above the vast basin of the caldera.

From here you take in an amphitheatre of ravines cloaked in Canary pine, with clouds often spilling over the ridges. It also serves as the trailhead for several short walks around the nearby viewpoints.

The website of the La Palma Biosphere Reserve presents it as a set of floating viewpoints: walkways edged with glass railings that reach out over the ravine and give a sensation of flight. It is reached by car from the village centre heading north, along the camino del Pinar.
