Playa y Bajas de la Zamora
Black-sand beach and rocky shallows at Fuencaliente in southern La Palma, split into Zamora Grande and Zamora Chica, with cliffs, strong surf and good snorkelling when the sea is calm.
Playa y Bajas de la Zamora opens on the southern coast of La Palma, in the volcanic municipality of Fuencaliente. It is a black-sand beach split into two stretches, Zamora Grande and Zamora Chica, wedged between cliffs and large rocks that reach into the sea.
Access is by a steep stone stairway with a resting point halfway down. The surf is often strong and the warning flags should be heeded, but when the sea calms the rocky shallows offer excellent snorkelling in a wild, photogenic setting.

Playa de Puntalarga is a small bay on the coastline of Fuencaliente de La Palma, about a hundred metres long and twenty metres wide, with a mix of sand and callao pebbles. Small rocky outcrops shelter it from the sea and the swell stays moderate. A natural rock pool lies right beside the beach, and the whole corner is ringed by fishermen's huts, with fishermen often at work there.
