Playa de Los Cancajos, in Breña Baja, is the main tourist beach on the eastern side of La Palma. Its black volcanic sand and its rock pools and small natural pools make it ideal for snorkelling and diving, and it holds a long-standing blue flag that speaks of its care.
The waters are calm and family-friendly, and the setting has a seafront promenade, showers and restaurants for a full day out. It sits just minutes from Santa Cruz de La Palma and the airport, making it a fine first swim as soon as you land on the island.

Playa de Puntalarga is a small bay on the coastline of Fuencaliente de La Palma, about a hundred metres long and twenty metres wide, with a mix of sand and callao pebbles. Small rocky outcrops shelter it from the sea and the swell stays moderate. A natural rock pool lies right beside the beach, and the whole corner is ringed by fishermen's huts, with fishermen often at work there.
