Shaka Surf Tenerife
Shaka Surf Tenerife is a surf school in Playa de Las Américas, Arona, about 30 metres from the shore, that has been teaching surfing on the volcanic coast of southern Tenerife for more than two decades. Its instructors are certified by the Canary Islands Surf Federation, teach all levels in seven languages and provide all the equipment. The school also runs SUP lessons and tours and kayak and snorkelling trips in Los Cristianos.
Shaka Surf Tenerife is based in Playa de Las Américas, about 30 metres from the shore, in an area of consistent waves in the south of Tenerife. Its surf lessons last two hours and are taught in groups of no more than six students per instructor, or as private and semi-private classes. Each session starts with a 20-minute theory introduction and a warm-up, and includes board, wetsuit, booties and rash vest, sports insurance and photos of the lesson.
The instructors speak Spanish, English, Italian, German, French, Croatian and Slovenian, and teach four levels from beginner to advanced; children up to 12 take private lessons. The school has a space for rinsing off and changing and a locker for belongings. It also runs SUP lessons in the bay of Los Cristianos, and SUP and kayak-and-snorkel tours along volcanic cliffs and sea caves, all bookable online.
