Mirador de Vallebrón
A balcony over north-western Fuerteventura from the slope of Montaña de la Muda, in La Oliva, with the solitary Montaña de Tindaya as its main subject. It carries one of the eight public telescopes installed around the island. Below it lies the protected landscape of Vallebrón, with its knife-edge ridge and dry-stone field terraces.

The Mirador de Vallebrón looks out from the north-western flank of Montaña de la Muda, at 689 metres one of the highest points in its surroundings, within the municipality of La Oliva. From the railing the view opens across the north-western quarter of Fuerteventura: the sacred mountain of Tindaya standing alone on the plain, El Cotillo beyond it, part of the village of La Oliva, Los Pedregales and the southern side of the Esquinzo ravine. The viewpoint holds one of the eight public telescopes installed around the island. Below it spreads the protected landscape of Vallebrón, 1,679.6 hectares built around a long ridge of knife-like relief, the Cuchillo de Vallebrón, flanked by two U-shaped ravines and counted among the most significant geological structures on the island.
Access is by car on the FV-103, which climbs into the Vallebrón valley on a narrow, winding but surfaced road, with space to leave the vehicle beside the viewpoint. There is no shade and no facilities, and the wind almost always blows hard on the ridge, so a windproof layer and closed shoes make sense even if you do not walk. Early morning and late afternoon light model the profile of Tindaya best. The protected area shelters threatened wildlife such as the houbara bustard and the Canary shrew, along with archaeological sites, stone corrals and gavias that speak of majorero rural life: a good place to understand how this island has been worked, not only to look at it.
