Museo del Queso Majorero
Museum dedicated to Majorero cheese in Antigua, Fuerteventura.

Beside the historic Molino de Antigua, among gardens of Canarian plants, the Museo del Queso Majorero tells a story that tastes of Fuerteventura. Across more than 500 m² and in several languages, its rooms trace the island's livestock culture: the life of the majorera goat, the cheese making techniques, the pressing, the ripening and the role of cheese in the economy and landscape of Fuerteventura. Audiovisuals and objects bring you close to a centuries old tradition still alive across the island.
The star is the majorera goat, a hardy, resilient animal that gives dense, aromatic, fatty milk, the base of a pressed cheese with a slightly acidic, gently spicy taste. Did you know that queso majorero was the first goat cheese in Spain to earn a Protected Designation of Origin, back in 1999? That seal rewards centuries of pastoral know how.
Round off your visit with a guided tasting of different varieties, a stroll through the gardens and a stop at the shop of crafts and local produce or the café. The windmill, a listed heritage site that still grinds grain for gofio, crowns the whole experience.
