Mirador de Morro Jable
The Mirador de Morro Jable looks out from the cliff edge of the old town, in the municipality of Pájara in southern Fuerteventura. From the railing you take in the old houses below, the seafront and the long Jandía shoreline, with Playa del Matorral, the protected saltmarsh and the lighthouse further along. It sits on Calle los Guanches, beside the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, and is reached on foot from the town itself.
The viewpoint occupies the cliff edge above the old quarter of Morro Jable, the largest settlement in the municipality of Pájara, at the southern tip of Fuerteventura. From the railing the old town lines up at a glance with its narrow streets, the seafront and the coastline of the Jandía peninsula, which stretches east into an almost unbroken beach.
That way lie Playa del Matorral, the Saladar de Jandía, a wetland protected for its scientific value, and the lighthouse that rounds off the view in the distance. The viewpoint stands on Calle los Guanches, next to the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, and is reached on foot from the old quarter, so it fits neatly into a walk through the historic streets. It is an exposed spot, as windy as most of the Jandía area, and one of the corners of the town most often recommended late in the afternoon.
