Mirador de los Canarios
The Mirador de los Canarios occupies a small esplanade at the pass of the Barranco de los Canarios, in the municipality of Pájara, inside the Parque Natural de Jandía. The point looks out from the cliff that faces the windward coast, at the south western end of Fuerteventura, and from the area the view reaches the Cofete valley and both sides of the peninsula, Sotavento and Barlovento.
The esplanade sits at the cut of the pass, next to the cliff, and opens its views to the east, while to the south west it is closed off by a bank carved into the rock. From this point the eye travels over the Cofete valley and the whole windward coast, from the beach and the islet of Cofete as far as the north west of the island, at El Cotillo.
The site lies within the boundaries of the Parque Natural de Jandía, on the massif that closes Fuerteventura to the south west, and it is reached by a surfaced track that the owner of the land built in the nineteen eighties. The Cabildo de Fuerteventura highlights the views that the area offers over the Sotavento and Barlovento coasts.
