Mirador Altavista
The Mirador Altavista occupies the upper part of the Altavista district of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the landscaped slope that links the neighbourhood with the Paseo de Chil. The city council opened it to the public in 2019, with three stepped terraces and a fourth one set aside for group relaxation techniques, along with young trees, lighting, shade pergolas and an adjoining parking area.
The site belongs to the network of viewpoints promoted by Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city council to make the most of the capital's hillside ridge as an alternative visitor route. It was built on the landscaped slope that links Altavista with the Paseo de Chil, on the site of the former terrace known as El Cielo, and its terraces look out over the city and its bay.
The work was carried out in two phases. The first laid out a stretch of calle Echegaray and built the retaining walls of the viewpoint in the upper part of the district. The second created three stepped terraces and a fourth area for group relaxation or meditation techniques, separated from the parking area by a pedestrian path, and added tree planting, lighting, rainwater collection and pergolas for shade.
