Leopoldo Emperador. Hacia el paradigma: retrospective at CAAM, Las Palmas de Gran Canariaverified
From 6 November 2026 to 28 March 2027, CAAM in Vegueta, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, devotes the retrospective «Hacia el paradigma» to Leopoldo Emperador, with drawings, paintings, sculptures, videos and installations by this artist of the Canarian Generation of the Seventies. The opening is on Friday 6 November at 20:00 with DJ Vamp, and admission is free.
«Hacia el paradigma» traces the career of Leopoldo Emperador (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1954), a key figure of the Generation of the Seventies in the Canary Islands. Until the late eighties he worked mainly with installation and conceptual practice, shaped by trips to Italy and New York and by stays in Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona; in the nineties he turned almost entirely to sculpture in iron and bronze, with Martín Chirino as his mentor. Curated by Lidia Gil Calvo, the show brings together drawings, paintings, sculptures, videos and installations.
From 6 November 2026 to 28 March 2027 in CAAM's main building (floors -1 and 0), Calle Los Balcones 11, Vegueta. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 21:00, Sunday 10:00 to 14:00. Free admission. Opening on Friday 6 November at 20:00 with music by DJ Vamp, and a guided tour with the artist and the curator on Saturday 7 November at 19:00.
