Parque Doramas
Urban park of some 50,000 square metres in the Ciudad Jardín district of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, laid out in terraces linked by steps and walkways. It sits between the Museo Néstor, the Pueblo Canario and the Hotel Santa Catalina, so it slots easily into a walk that takes in all three. Canary Island flora sets the tone: palms, dragon trees and large ficus that shade the paths. Inside there is a children's play area and a small open-air auditorium.

Parque Doramas covers around 50,000 square metres in the Ciudad Jardín district, in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is laid out in terraces joined by steps and walkways, with planted areas and a plant list led by Canary Island species: palms, dragon trees and large ficus that close the sky over the paths. Because it sits in the middle of the city, walking it costs no effort, and it works both as a route between neighbourhoods and as a place to sit for a while in the shade.
The park ties together several well known points of the city. The Museo Néstor and the Pueblo Canario stand at one end and the Hotel Santa Catalina faces the other, so a visit strings them together without taking the car. Inside there is a children's play area and a small open-air auditorium used for events and performances, which makes the park a comfortable choice for families. Do not mix it up with the rural park of the same name, inland between Moya and Firgas: these are two separate places, far apart from each other.

Parque San Telmo
The oldest public park in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the edge of Triana and steps from its main shopping street. Inside stand the Ermita de San Telmo, a tiled modernist kiosk and a bandstand where the municipal band performs. Tall Indian laurels shade most of the square, and the central walk with its benches makes it a place to sit down in the middle of the city. The San Telmo bus interchange is right next door, so public transport leaves you at the gate.
