Paisaje Protegido del Barranco de Las Angustias

sellHiking routesstorefrontIslas24foggy33°C

Protected landscape that forms the only natural outlet of the Caldera de Taburiente, a deep ravine of vertical walls reaching the coast.

Islas24

The Barranco de Las Angustias is a deep gorge that forms the only natural outlet of the Caldera de Taburiente, channelling its waters until they reach the coast near Tazacorte. Its vertical walls, carved over millennia, hold notable geological, scenic and archaeological value, with traces of the Benahoarita culture.

The ravine is the link between the interior of the Caldera and the coast, and along it runs one of the most impressive routes on La Palma. The terrain is demanding and stony, with stretches beside the watercourse, so sturdy footwear and caution against possible flash floods after rain are advisable.
