Islas24

Área Recreativa Presa de las Niñas is a Cabildo of Gran Canaria site in the municipality of Tejeda, set around one of the better known reservoirs in the island's central highlands, also called Cuevas de las Niñas or Majada Alta. It lies within the Nublo Rural Park and the Gran Canaria Biosphere Reserve. The setting is pine forest around the water, and the area is used for walking, barbecues and picnics. It is also a waypoint on the Ruta de las Tres Presas, which links Soria, Las Niñas and Chira along trail S-60.

The camping zone holds up to 100 people and 28 caravans and requires prior authorisation from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria; the information line is 928 219 229. Access is by the GC-605 road. This is high ground, so warm clothing for the evenings and your own water supply are worth bringing, and anyone planning to camp or stay overnight with a caravan should have the permit settled before setting out.
