Real Club Náutico de Santa Cruz de La Palma (Sede Náutica)
The Sede Náutica of the Real Club Náutico de Santa Cruz de La Palma stands on Avenida de los Indianos, beside the harbour, on a port plot granted in 1959 and extended in 2007. It brings together a heated indoor saltwater pool of twenty-five metres with four lanes, an outdoor pool of thirty-three metres, a spa pool, sauna, Turkish bath, gym, sailing room and boat yards. The society itself was founded in 1904.
The society was founded on 13 December 1904 as the Nuevo Club and gained the title Real after the visit of Alfonso XIII to the island in 1906. It occupies two buildings: the Sede Social on Calle A. Pérez de Brito, a house dating from 1817 with a library, an exhibition room, an assembly hall for lectures, courses and concerts and a painting collection, and the Sede Náutica on Avenida de los Indianos, beside the bay.
The Sede Náutica is where the sport happens. The upper floor holds a heated indoor saltwater pool, a spa pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath, adapted changing rooms, a terrace and a restaurant; the ground floor a gym, aerobics room, children's playroom, sailing room, boat yards and multipurpose rooms. Outside are the large six-lane pool, the children's pool, a lawn and a solarium. The club runs a swimming school with an annual course and organises the Regata Lustral.
