Barbarian Diving Tenerife S.L
Barbarian Diving is an SSI dive centre in Los Cristianos, south Tenerife, run by a German-led team. It works with a maximum of four divers per guide and teaches in English, German and Spanish, from a first try dive to specialty courses and Divemaster training. The team puts particular focus on beginners and on divers who feel nervous about going under.
The centre, based on Avenida Juan Carlos I in Los Cristianos, was founded by Kathleen Knecht, an SSI instructor from Germany, and Sergio Cruz, who grew up by the Atlantic and is a keen follower of marine biology. First-timers can start with a try dive that needs no experience; from there the path runs through the SSI Scuba Diver, Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Stress and Rescue courses, and specialties such as deep diving, wrecks, nitrox, perfect buoyancy and scooter DPV. Certified divers can join guided dives from the shore or by boat, and professional training goes up to Divemaster with one-to-one mentoring.
Dives take in volcanic reefs, caves and wrecks such as El Peñón, El Condesito and Los Gemelos, in water of 18 to 24 °C where sea turtles, rays and angel sharks can be seen. The team follows a low-impact approach: no touching marine life, careful buoyancy to protect the reefs, and taking part in beach clean-ups. All divers need valid diving insurance, which the centre helps to arrange as a DAN Europe partner, and bookings can be made online or via WhatsApp.
