Mercado de Gáldar (La Recova)
The municipal market of Gáldar, known as La Recova, occupies a 1945 building on Calle Capitán Quesada, in the heart of the old town. Inside there are fruit and vegetable stalls, a butcher, a stall for organic produce and a bar cafeteria, stocked largely from the north of Gran Canaria. The entrance keeps its original iron railings, and the main gallery holds two allegorical sculptures by Juan Borges Linares.
La Recova is the municipal market of Gáldar and is run by the markets department of the town council. It was built in 1945 and stands on Calle Capitán Quesada, in the town centre, in the north west of Gran Canaria. Under its roof there are fruit and vegetable stalls, a butcher, a stall for organic produce and a bar cafeteria.
The building keeps the original iron railings at the entrance and on the main door. At the back is a work by the Gáldar artist Diego Higuera, made in homage to the painter Antonio Padrón, and the main gallery holds two allegorical pieces by the sculptor Juan Borges Linares, one dedicated to the sea and one to the land. The counters carry produce from the surrounding district, such as cheeses from around Guía, gofio and fruit from the north of the island.

It belongs to the Mercados Tradicionales de Canarias network.

More than 45 shops and about ten restaurants on two floors, with a cinema, a supermarket, free parking and electric charging points. Shops open 10:00 to 22:00 every day; the food court closes at midnight.

Its parts were ordered from London and reached the city aboard the steamer Nubia in 1897, and in 1947 the structure was dismantled in the city centre and rebuilt in this neighbourhood. The market's own website describes the building as semi-abandoned, with a single fruit stall still working out of the 18 it once housed.
