The El Rosario farmers market sets up at weekends on Camino de PeƱafiel, at kilometre 7.8 of the old La Esperanza road, the TF 24. You are in the midlands here, on the way up to the pine forest, where the air turns cool and market gardens take over from the coast. Growers from the municipality and the wider metropolitan area bring vegetables, fruit and their own preserves, sold straight to you.

The Mercado Municipal of Puerto de la Cruz fills a covered building on Avenida Blas PƩrez GonzƔlez, a few minutes on foot from the old town and the fishing harbour. Inside you find stalls of fruit and vegetables, fish landed on the nearby coast, butchers, cheesemongers and counters of Canarian honey and mojo sauces, alongside food bars run by young local traders. A recent refurbishment modernised the building without erasing its old recova character.

Inside, fish, meat, fruit and vegetable stalls sit alongside tapas counters and small restaurants.

It fills up on weekend mornings with vegetables, fruit, wine, cheese, honey, gofio, meat, fish and bread from the Tacoronte Acentejo district. There is a children's play area on site, and the market holds Biosphere Sustainable certification.
