The El Rosario farmers market sets up at weekends on Camino de Peñafiel, at kilometre 7.8 of the old La Esperanza road, the TF 24. You are in the midlands here, on the way up to the pine forest, where the air turns cool and market gardens take over from the coast. Growers from the municipality and the wider metropolitan area bring vegetables, fruit and their own preserves, sold straight to you.

The entrance keeps its original iron railings, and the main gallery holds two allegorical sculptures by Juan Borges Linares.

Its parts were ordered from London and reached the city aboard the steamer Nubia in 1897, and in 1947 the structure was dismantled in the city centre and rebuilt in this neighbourhood. The market's own website describes the building as semi-abandoned, with a single fruit stall still working out of the 18 it once housed.
