Restaurante Gran Tarajal
A restaurant in La Orotava with an entirely gluten free menu, something the house even carries in the name of its social media pages. It opened in 1932 as a bodegón, and since 1998 its current owners have run it as a restaurant. It combines traditional Canarian recipes with more creative dishes, bakes its own artisan bread and has vegan options on the menu as well.
Gran Tarajal has almost a century of history behind it: it began in 1932 as a bodegón, and in 1998 its current owners turned it into a restaurant. Today the whole menu is gluten free, so nobody at the table gets second best: traditional Canarian cooking and the more creative dishes come out of the same kitchen, with artisan bread baked in house and vegan alternatives.
The house also runs a gluten free shop, in person and online, with packaged products to take home. And if you would rather eat on your own sofa, they take delivery orders by phone. It is a handy address if you are spending the day in La Orotava and do not want gluten to keep you from Canarian food.
