Playa Blanca is one of the two main stretches of sand at Puerto del Carmen, in the municipality of Tías, and it should not be mixed up with the town of the same name some twenty kilometres further south, in Yaiza. Fine golden sand, a south facing shore and usually gentle water, because the island itself screens the coast from the north easterly trade wind. Behind it runs Avenida de las Playas, the promenade that links the resort's beaches.
