Mirador Norte de Las Coloradas
An urban balcony in the Las Coloradas district, set on a volcanic hill inside the protected landscape of La Isleta, at the northern end of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Its viewpoints give one of the best outlooks over the city and over the island's north coast, with the Atlantic opening up ahead. It is one of the capital's favourite spots for watching the sun go down, and it is reached on foot from the neighbourhood itself.
Las Coloradas is a district of low houses clinging to the slope, on the edge of the protected landscape of La Isleta, the volcanic peninsula that closes the city off to the north. The settlement has grown up the hillside and its streets end in several open balconies, of which the northern viewpoint is the clearest. The climb is short but steep, and comfortable shoes make it straightforward.
The view takes in the built up city stretching away to the south, the line of the north coast and the ocean with nothing in the way. At dusk the district fills with locals who come up specifically for the sunset, and the low light throws the volcanic relief of La Isleta into sharp definition. Bear in mind that this is a residential area and a protected space: park carefully in the narrow streets, keep to the marked paths and take your rubbish back down with you.

It belongs to the island network of sixteen astronomical viewpoints.
