Mirador Dos Playas

The Mirador Dos Playas looks out over the northern coast of the Anaga massif, near Taganana, one of the wildest corners of Tenerife. From its balcony the view falls on two of the black volcanic sand beaches of this coast and the roques rising out of the sea, with the park's slopes covered in dense vegetation. You reach it by the road that drops from Taganana towards the beaches, a narrow route with tight bends where it pays to drive slowly, and space to park by the viewpoint is limited. This whole area is part of the Anaga Rural Park, declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2015 for its natural value and its laurel forests.
Did you know? The laurel forests of Anaga are a living relic of the Tertiary period: this kind of woodland once covered much of the Mediterranean basin millions of years ago and today survives only on the islands of Macaronesia.

Mirador de Izcagua
Mirador de Izcagua stands in the El Pinar area of Puntagorda, in the north-west of La Palma, right beside the Mercadillo del Agricultor farmers' market. The website of the La Palma Biosphere Reserve presents it as a set of floating viewpoints: walkways edged with glass railings that reach out over the ravine and give a sensation of flight. It is reached by car from the village centre heading north, along the camino del Pinar.
