Mirador de Sámara
The Sámara viewpoint sits on the Boca Tauce road, the TF-38, at kilometre 7.5, and marks the western entrance to Teide National Park. Facing it rises Montaña de Samara, a volcanic cone with a striking profile whose crater is open to visitors. The PNT 13 trail starts here, a loop over dark layers of tephra that is largely flat with a few gentle slopes. Parking spaces at the viewpoint are limited.

Sámara is one of the most recognisable gateways into Teide National Park. The volcanic cone that gives the place its name closes the horizon from the viewpoint, and its crater can be walked, which makes the spot a regular stop both for hikers and for anyone interested in the park's geology.
The PNT 13 trail describes a loop over dark tephra ground, on a comfortable line with moderate height changes. A short branch of around 360 metres near the start climbs to the summit of the Samara volcano, opening wide views over several volcanic cones, Mount Teide and Pico Viejo. The vegetation combines Canary pine, an effective coloniser of this young terrain, with Teide white broom, codeso and rosalillo de cumbre. Among the wildlife, kestrels and Tenerife lizards are the likeliest encounters.

Mirador de Izcagua stands in the El Pinar area of Puntagorda, in the north-west of La Palma, right beside the Mercadillo del Agricultor farmers' market. The website of the La Palma Biosphere Reserve presents it as a set of floating viewpoints: walkways edged with glass railings that reach out over the ravine and give a sensation of flight. It is reached by car from the village centre heading north, along the camino del Pinar.
