Mirador de Ortuño
The first grand balcony toward Teide as you climb through the ridge pine forest.

Climbing the summit road (TF-24) through Canary pines that smell of resin, Ortuño is where the landscape first opens toward Teide and the island's north-west coast. You stand right at the cloud line: often the valley lies buried under a white blanket while the sun blazes above, a sight that draws you in. On clear days even La Palma appears in the distance. Tip: the Ortuño car park is handy for a coffee stop, but walk a few metres for the best angle on the volcano.
