Mirador de La Grimona
The Mirador de La Grimona, a roadside viewpoint on the northern motorway of Tenerife, lies on the carriageway towards Icod de los Vinos, past El Socorro beach and the barranco de la Torre tunnel, in the municipality of Los Realejos. It looks over La Grimona beach, the Socorro coast and Punta del Guindaste, along the rugged shoreline of black sand coves that fringes the municipality.

Set on the northern motorway heading for Icod de los Vinos, past El Socorro beach and the barranco de la Torre tunnel, the viewpoint takes in La Grimona beach, the Socorro coast and Punta del Guindaste. It is one of the best places to read the rugged relief of this shoreline, scattered with black sand coves and small rocky outcrops.
The spot draws a great many birdwatchers. Migratory species such as the whimbrel, the turnstone, the little ringed plover, the grey heron and the little egret put in at those coves. Turning away from the sea rise the cliffs of El Terrero, part of the Campeches, Tigaiga y Ruiz protected landscape, with springs and remnants of thermophile woodland that shelter the laurel pigeon, alongside the common buzzard, the kestrel and the Barbary falcon.
