Mirador de Humboldt
Balcony over the Orotava Valley with views of the banana plantations, coast and Teide, where the naturalist Humboldt paused.

The Mirador de Humboldt, on the Cuesta de la Villa, offers one of the most celebrated panoramas of the Orotava Valley. From the balcony one sees the banana plantations, Puerto de la Cruz, Los Realejos and the silhouette of Teide beyond. It takes its name from the naturalist Alexander von Humboldt, who was captivated by this landscape in 1799.

Mirador de Izcagua stands in the El Pinar area of Puntagorda, in the north-west of La Palma, right beside the Mercadillo del Agricultor farmers' market. The website of the La Palma Biosphere Reserve presents it as a set of floating viewpoints: walkways edged with glass railings that reach out over the ravine and give a sensation of flight. It is reached by car from the village centre heading north, along the camino del Pinar.
