Playa de La Guirra

Roughly 700 metre beach on the east coast of Fuerteventura, next to Caleta de Fuste, with very calm water and a landscaped promenade. A sound choice for families with small children.

Islas24

Playa de La Guirra takes up around 700 metres of shoreline on the eastern side of Fuerteventura, next to the resort of Caleta de Fuste, in the municipality of Antigua. Its most cited feature is how calm the water is: the bay is sheltered and the swell is usually gentle, which makes it particularly comfortable for bathing with small children. The strip of sand is bordered by a landscaped promenade that incorporates the old lime kilns of the area, a nod to the industry that shaped this coast before tourism arrived.

In terms of facilities, the beach has lifeguards, anchored sunbeds and parasols, toilets, parking and places to eat close by. It is also equipped with amphibious chairs, so bathing is workable for people with reduced mobility. Being part of the built up area of Caleta de Fuste, it is well served by public transport and can be reached on foot from much of the local accommodation. The climate on the east coast makes it usable all year round, though the wind that Fuerteventura is known for and the almost total absence of natural shade are both worth planning for.
