Lagunas y Playa de El Cotillo
A string of shallow lagoons and sheltered sandy-rocky coves north of El Cotillo village, with calm water ideal for snorkelling and a much-photographed scene.

The Lagunas y Playa de El Cotillo are a string of shallow lagoons and sheltered sandy-rocky coves set north of the village, in La Oliva. Their waters are calm most days, which makes them ideal for snorkelling and one of the main things to do in El Cotillo.
The best time is at low tide, when pools form among the rocks and it is easier to watch marine life; between twenty and thirty fish species have been reported, including manta rays. Cliffs, sandy beaches and lagoons make up a much-photographed scene, distinct from the neighbouring Playa de la Concha.
