Finca El Carretón (agricultura ecológica)
Organic farm in Arafo offering visits, seasonal produce and agrotourism experiences.
Finca El Carretón is a 16,000 m² educational farm and agro-ecological project in La Hidalga (Arafo), in Tenerife's Güímar Valley. It was the first organic farm registered with the Canary Islands' agriculture regulatory council and is a local benchmark for permaculture and sustainability; since 1996 it has welcomed more than 120,000 schoolchildren and 8,000 teachers.
The farm hosts a large permanent live exhibition of native and traditional Canarian farm animals, along with a display of Tenerife's volcanic rocks and substrates and a permanent clean-energy exhibition. It offers visits for schools (transport included) and private visitors, summer camps for children aged 3 to 12, birthdays and events, and workshops on the environment, organic farming, livestock, arts and crafts and cooking.
