The Wild Surf Fuerteventura
The Wild Surf Fuerteventura is a surf school based in Corralejo, in the north of the island. Its lessons run for about four hours and take place along the northern coast, a stretch with many breaks that the school itself compares to the Hawaiian north shore. There is no fixed meeting place: the tide decides which beach each group goes to and when, and groups are put together by ability.
The school treats a lesson as a whole outing. The group leaves from the surf house, moves to whichever beach is working best that day and spends the rest of the time in the water with an instructor alongside. Equipment is included, so a pupil only needs swimwear, a towel and sun cream. Photographs and video are taken during the session and are used afterwards to correct posture.
The Wild Surf Fuerteventura also runs a surf camp by the week, housed in a residential area of Corralejo close to the beach and to the town centre, with a shared kitchen and flexible arrival and departure. The northern coast works all year round and gathers waves for beginners as well as for surfers with experience. Places are booked in advance.
