Canary Wave Nixon Surf School Maspalomas
A surf school in the southern area of Maspalomas, close to the main tourist accommodation, founded by young locals from Gran Canaria. Lessons cover surfing, bodyboarding and stand up paddle, with sessions aimed at children as well, and the group heads for the beaches that island surfers know best, Playa del Inglés among them. The school supplies the equipment and the instructors are certified locals.
Canary Wave is a small school set up by young people from Gran Canaria in the southern area of Maspalomas, a short distance from the main tourist accommodation. Beyond surfing the programme takes in bodyboarding and stand up paddle, and there are lessons designed for children. The instructors lead their students to the beaches that only local surfers know how to reach, including the stretch at Playa del Inglés.
The instructors are certified local surfers, and the school supplies the equipment, new and of good quality, so that each session stays focused on the water. Its technical director studied Physical Education at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, holds a lifesaving certificate from the Red Cross and a surf instruction qualification from the Canary Surfing Federation, has more than twenty five years of surfing behind him and has spent over seven years training newcomers.
