Mirador de Isora
A viewpoint atop a cliff about 1,000 m above the Las Playas valley, at Isora (Valverde), El Hierro.
The Mirador de Isora, in the municipality of Valverde, sits atop a cliff about 1,000 metres high with views towards Las Playas and the entire Atlantic Ocean. The vast natural amphitheatre formed by the cliffs drops abruptly to the sea, with the Roque de la Bonanza in the distance.
By day the views are spectacular and by night it becomes an excellent spot for stargazing. A recent refurbishment added native plant species, comfortable benches and access for people with reduced mobility.
Did you know? The Roque de la Bonanza in the distance is an old volcanic dike born from the activity of the Tiñor volcano: the sea eroded away the softer materials that once surrounded it, leaving the harder rock exposed, a phenomenon known as relief inversion.
