Museo del Pescador
The Museo del Pescador occupies the premises of the Cofradía de Pescadores Gran Poder de Dios, on calle Las Lonjas in Puerto de la Cruz, beside the fishing quay. Its Casa Museo brings together a large collection of ship models, ranging from traditional Canarian rowing boats and faluas, tuna vessels and purse seiners to schooners, sail training ships, steamers and the old island mail boats, alongside working objects such as an old scale.
The Cofradía de Pescadores Gran Poder de Dios has supported the fishing sector of Puerto de la Cruz since 1977 and was founded by a group of local fishermen. Its premises on calle Las Lonjas, to which it returned in 2009, house the Casa Museo del Pescador, beside the town's fishing quay.
The display is built around ship models of every kind: Canarian purse seiners and tuna boats, traditional rowing and sailing craft, the mail steamer La Palma, schooners and large sail training ships, along with steamships and modern ferries. The cofradía keeps a fleet of twelve fishing boats and provides services to the sector, and a restaurant specialising in fresh local fish operates in the same building.
