Faro del Tostón y Museo de la Pesca Tradicional
A 19th-century lighthouse on the northwestern tip of Fuerteventura, near El Cotillo, now home to a museum devoted to traditional Majorero fishing.
The Faro del Tostón stands on the northwestern tip of Fuerteventura, close to the fishing village of El Cotillo in the municipality of La Oliva. Built in the 19th century to guide ships along this coast of rough water and rocky shallows, the cluster of lighthouses keeps its distinctive outline above a flat volcanic landscape, exposed to the wind and Atlantic storms.
Inside, the Museum of Traditional Fishing traces the history of the island's seafaring life: the fishing gear, the boats, the salt, and the families who depended on the sea. The surroundings gather pale-sand coves, natural rock pools, and some of the most admired sunsets on the island, making the visit a plan that blends heritage, sea, and a coastal walk.
