Ecomuseo de El Tanque
The Ecomuseo de El Tanque, in the north of Tenerife, houses an exhibition on life in the Partido de Abajo, the old name for this spot. Using interpretive panels, audiovisual displays, virtual reality and interactive pieces, the route through its rooms covers the origins of the hamlet, its historical setting and the daily life of its residents, from the kitchen and cereal growing to the threshing floor and threshing itself.

The Ecomuseo de El Tanque stands beside the TF-373 road in the municipality of El Tanque, in the north of Tenerife. It houses an exhibition on life in the Partido de Abajo, as this spot used to be called, told through interpretive panels, audiovisual displays, virtual reality and interactive pieces. The visit follows a route through rooms devoted to the hamlet's historical setting, the kitchen, cereal growing, the threshing floor, threshing, women in the Partido de Abajo and the accounts of local residents, who took part in creating the ecomuseum themselves.
The surroundings are part of the visit: a landscape shaped by volcanic eruptions, with nearby volcanoes such as El Chinyero and Trevejos and viewpoints such as Lomo Molino, which looks out over the Isla Baja. A trail leads from the ecomuseum to the Charcas de Erjos, man-made wetlands from the 20th century where up to ten ponds can form in the rainy season, home to native water plants and birds. Large groups, such as schools or associations, need to book their visit in advance.
