Centro Alfarero "Casa Las Miquelas"
The Centro Alfarero "Casa Las Miquelas" sits in the old quarter of Santa Ana, in Candelaria, inside a restored traditional house. It tells the story of Candelaria's pottery, shaped by hand without a wheel, and in its workshop young potters still work the clay in front of visitors. There is a shop with traditional pottery and handmade ceramic jewellery.

Pottery was Candelaria's main industry in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the old quarter of Santa Ana is one of the oldest pottery-making centres in the Canary Islands. The ware was shaped by hand without a wheel, and pieces were already crossing the sea to the Americas in the 18th century. The house is named after Rosa and Carmen, known as Las Miquelas, the last two potters of the neighbourhood, and since 2007 this restored traditional home has kept their legacy alive.
The visit covers three rooms, devoted to the village's traditional trades, to how the pottery is made, and to a collection of vessels and traditional dress. In the workshop you can watch young potters carrying on the craft. The shop sells traditional pottery and handmade ceramic jewellery. The centre is on Calle Isla de La Gomera, in the old quarter of Santa Ana.
