Sendero al Volcán Calderón Hondo (SL FV 2)
An easy trail from Lajares to the crater of the Calderón Hondo volcano, with views of the Bayuyo volcanic cones and Isla de Lobos.

Calderón Hondo is one of the most accessible volcanoes in northern Fuerteventura. From the village of Lajares an easy trail climbs to the rim of the crater, some seventy metres deep and formed tens of thousands of years ago. The ascent is short and suitable for beginners and families.
From the top you can see the Bayuyo alignment of volcanic cones and, to the north, Isla de Lobos and the outline of Lanzarote. The arid landscape and lava formations make this one of the island's most popular routes, with Barbary ground squirrels often seen along the path.
