The Zona de Charcos del Área Funcional de Valleseco, known as Los Charcos and popularly as Ligrasa, is the bathing area on the coast of the Valleseco neighbourhood in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It opened in March 2024 after a struggle of almost 35 years led by local residents, who gathered more than 40,000 signatures to save this stretch of seafront. The design, Sol y Sombra by Casariego Guerra Arquitectos, won the 2005 ideas competition, and the works were directed by the architect Elsa Guerra.
The site is about 340 metres long and covers 13,300 square metres, with protective breakwaters, floating platforms and sun decks, jetties and accessible ramps into the water. On the landward side there are green areas, fountains, showers and adapted toilets, as well as footbridges. Smoking is not allowed inside the area, nor are animals, except guide dogs.
