Playa Las Mujeres

Playa Las Mujeres is a wild cove on the coast of Buenavista del Norte, at the gateway to the Parque Rural de Teno, where volcanic rock and ocean meet with barely a human trace. It is a small beach of about 100 metres, made of pebbles and black sand, and rarely crowded. To reach it you either walk about 3 km from Buenavista or park at Playa de las Arenas and drop down on foot in ten minutes. There are no facilities and the surf can be strong, with no lifeguards, so take care when swimming.
Did you know? Its sand has a life of its own. In winter the tides carry the black sand away, and in summer they bring it back to the shore.
