Playa del Confital
Wild volcanic sand-and-rock beach north of La Isleta, a surfing mecca.

El Confital stretches along the northern tip of the La Isleta peninsula in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is a barely developed beach of dark sand, pebbles and rocky platforms, fronted by a long wooden boardwalk. Its waves have made it a landmark for surfing and bodyboarding, while the setting of lava formations and blue water also draws walkers and those seeking exercise away from the crowds.
