Playa del Camisón
A cosy urban cove of golden sand in Playa de las Américas, sheltered by breakwaters with calm waters, ideal for family swimming.

Playa del Camisón
Playa del Camisón is one of the most welcoming urban coves in southern Tenerife, in Playa de las Américas, within the municipality of Arona. It lies right between the extensive Playa de Las Vistas and the tourist core of Las Américas, integrated into the promenade that runs along this whole stretch of coast. It is a golden-sand beach about 375 metres long, sheltered from the swell by two breakwaters or jetties that hold back the currents and keep the water calm, which makes it a very suitable place for family bathing and for those who want to swim comfortably.
Its location right in the tourist heart makes it one of the busiest beaches in the area, especially during the peak months. The setting is fully developed, with a pedestrian promenade flanked by hotels, shops, terraces and restaurants, so you can spend the whole day without leaving the shore. The water is usually clean and turquoise, and the seabed near the breakwaters is interesting for snorkelling and watching marine life. It is one of the many beaches that reflect the cosmopolitan character of the Arona coast.
What the beach is like
El Camisón combines the comfort of a fully equipped beach with the protection offered by its jetties. The sand is golden and fine, and the average width is around 25 metres, so in high season it is best to arrive early to find a spot. Being sheltered, the water stays calm for most of the year, a feature that sets it apart from the more open beaches exposed to the southern wind.
Services and access
Sunbeds and parasols: available for rent during the bathing season.
Showers and toilets: the beach has showers and facilities for bathers.
Bars and dining: the promenade is packed with bars, beach bars and restaurants at the edge of the sand.
Accessibility: it has adapted access that eases arrival for people with reduced mobility.
Parking: limited on the surrounding streets; public transport is recommended (bus lines connecting Las Américas and Los Cristianos).
Recommendations
Because of its modest size and high demand, it is best to visit it first thing in the morning or in the mid-afternoon to enjoy it more peacefully. The sheltered waters make it ideal for swimming and for those travelling with children, although, as on any busy urban beach, it is wise to keep an eye on your belongings. It is worth knowing that El Camisón is not among the beaches awarded the Blue Flag in the current season, a distinction held in Arona at present by Las Vistas and Los Cristianos. You can find more information on the official portals of Tenerife Tourism and the Arona Town Council.
