Playa de Troya
An urban volcanic-sand beach in Playa de las Américas (Arona), with breakwaters that create calm waters ideal for families.

Playa de Troya
Playa de Troya is one of the best-known urban beaches in Playa de las Américas, in the municipality of Arona, southern Tenerife. It is part of the tourist heart of the southern coast and sits right on the strip that links with neighbouring Costa Adeje, which is why it is often referred to as two consecutive sections: Troya I and Troya II. Close to 650 metres long, it offers a wide beach with fine golden sand, a fine, pleasant texture for walking and sunshine practically guaranteed all year round.
What sets this beach apart is the arrangement of breakwaters and jetties that break up the swell and create coves of sheltered water. Thanks to this protection, bathing is usually calm and comfortable, which makes it a highly valued option for families and for those looking for a swim without surprises. The water temperature is pleasant almost all year, around 22 °C in summer and dropping slightly in winter, in line with the mild climate that characterises the southern Tenerife coast.
Services and amenities
As a fully urban beach, Troya has a complete range of services designed for the visitor. In season it has lifeguard surveillance and rental of sunbeds and parasols, as well as showers, footbaths and toilets. The promenade that borders it is full of bars, restaurants, ice-cream parlours, shops and tourist information points, so everything is just a few steps from the sand.
Type of sand: fine and golden, of volcanic origin
Approximate length: about 650 metres (Troya I and II sections)
Waters: protected by breakwaters, usually calm and suitable for family bathing
Accessibility: an easily reached urban beach, adapted for people with reduced mobility
Surroundings: a promenade with bars, restaurants and shops; bus and taxi stops nearby
How to get there and surroundings
The beach is right in the centre of Playa de las Américas, with direct access from the promenade and easy connection via the southern motorway TF-1. The area has nearby car parks and good public transport links, so getting there is easy both for those staying nearby and for those coming from other parts of the island. Its location, surrounded by hotels, apartments and leisure venues, makes it a very busy beach, especially in the peak tourist months.
A southern Tenerife classic
Troya is one of the pioneering sun-and-beach tourism beaches on the southern coast of Tenerife and remains one of the favourites for combining calm bathing, comfort and promenade life.
