Playa Charco de Las Palomas
A coastal rock pool on the cliff bound shoreline of Arucas, described in beach guides less as a beach than as a run of clear water pools set among the rock. It is an isolated spot with no development around it, reached only on foot along the coast, and one where the swell of the north coast of Gran Canaria makes itself felt strongly on many days of the year.

The Charco de las Palomas sits on the northern coast of Arucas, along a cliff bound and lightly visited stretch of shore. Island beach guides agree in describing a small, isolated corner made up mostly of rock, where the water is held in pools rather than along a strip of sand.
Access is on foot, with no development in the immediate surroundings, which is why it rarely fills up even in high season. This is also an exposed coast: the northern swell arrives here with nothing to slow it, so it is worth checking the state of the sea before going down and never taking the tide for granted.
